San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant

This is an interesting and educational facility to visit. It is pertinent for general science
students, biology students, and chemistry students. It is a good tour.
I have been on it twice, and enjoyed it and learned something new both times.

General Information:
Location: 700 Los Esteros Rd., San Jose, CA 95134 (off Zanker Rd.)

Cost: Free
Length of Tour: From 1 to 2 hours, depending on interests.
Tour Days: T, W, Th from 8AM to 2PM (rainy season may be different)
Recommended Age Group: 10 years old or older
Adult to Student Ratio: 1:6 for Ages 10-12; 1:10 for Ages 13-17
Maximum Number of People on Tour: 25
Minimum Number of People on Tour: 5 or 6
Lunch Facilities/Gift Shop: No
Advance Planning: Schedule tour at least 2 weeks in advance (During
the rainy season, the tours may be cancelled and there may be no tours at all
from December to January. Call to confirm.)
Notes: The tour may be adapted somewhat to fit your students needs. For example,
a microbiology class or biology class may want to spend more time at the new
microbiology building. Please state your students subject area and interests to see
if the tour may be adapted for them.
